WVUHS Community Responsibility Report
As the largest health care system in the state, and a non-profit organization, West Virginia United Health System (WVUHS) is sensitive to the needs of patients who are unable to pay for all or part of their treatment, and system hospitals spend a significant amount of resources on providing care to those patients without compensation.
In addition, as the second largest private employer in the state, WVUHS is mindful of its role in the community, and how it should support activities beyond the walls of its hospitals and clinics. WVUHS provides monetary support, supplies, meeting space, and volunteers from its staff to support community activities to improve the health and quality of life in the communities its members serve. The summary below outlines the benefits provided to those communities each year:
